If problems are discovered before the age of 7, then your dentist should know when it is best to refer to an orthodontist.<\/p>\n<p>Once your child meets an orthodontist at the age of 7, you do not need a referral from your dentist to come to the orthodontist for a free evaluation of your child\u2019s developing jaws and teeth.
